The 'Book Match' sheets are designed to introduce children to a wider range of authors. Many of our children love the 'Tom Gates' books or those by David Walliams. These provide suggestions of books which should appeal to them if those are the books they enjoy.

Here are some of Mr. Lavin's Top Tips!

  • Remember the Classics (There is a reason they have been popular for so long and you will find great enjoyment sharing one of your favourite stories from The Golden, Olden Days!)
  • Find a Favourite Author (Many children like to collect things - why not collect the titles of an author they particularly like? I was mad on exotic animals as a child, so the globe-trotting adventures of Hal and Roger Hunt in the stories by Willard Price were perfect for me!)
  • Make Poetry a Passion (For some children, reading a whole novel can be quite daunting but dipping into anthologies of poems can serve as a wonderful smorgasbord!
