Week 18 in Class R

Good afternoon everyone,

We have had another fun space filled week!

The children have been learning all about the moon landings in the Apollo 11, in 1969. We have looked at the surface of the moon and tried to created our own moon craters with rocks and flour.

In literacy this week, we have been writing all about the moon, creating fact lists and writing a sentence about the astronauts going to the moon and what they saw.

In maths, we have spent the week looking at shapes. We have discussed the properties of shapes (corners, sides and angles). The children are great at naming the properties and they are the same / different. Ask the children if they can tell you about triangles, circles, squares and rectangles.

In PE, we practised our rolls from last week (egg and log). We built on our rocking and rolling by trying to propel ourself enough to get to standing.

On Friday, we looked at the International Space Station. We talked about how quickly it orbits the Earth. The children came up with some good questions for the astronauts who live on their during their missions.

We are very much looking forward to our trip to Jodrell Bank next week.

Have a lovely weekend everyone!
