Please keep playing, our school is second on the leaderboard at the moment! Help us move to first place.

Week beginning: Monday 26th February

  • We hope you have had a great half term.
  • Please have fun completing the well-being homework.  The activities only need to take a few minutes a day with the outcome to feel good and happy.
  • Thursday is World Book Day.  We will be decorating our classroom door as the front cover of a book.  The children will work together to design and then make the front cover.  Please could Class 2 families save recycling over the holidays and send it to school by Wednesday. Please could plastic bottles and tops be washed and only clean recycling be sent in.  Newspaper and magazines will be very useful please.  On Thursday please can the children bring their favourite book (any book) to school.  We will partner up with another class and they will share their book with a child from this class.
  • Please ensure PE kits are in school as soon as possible.  The children will be learning a World War 2 dance and we will practise throwing and catching skills.
  • Spelling test will be on Friday this week (as normal).
  • Show and Tell is for the yellow (Pendleton) house on Thursday.
  • In Maths this week the children will continue to about 2-d shapes.  They will accurately draw 2-d shapes according to their properties - number of sides and vertices (corners).  They will also name and identify 3-d shapes according to their properties - number of faces, edges and vertices.  Look out for shapes when you are out and about.  Which shapes are the most common to see?
  • In English the children will publish part of their brilliant evacuee letter neatly for display on 'old' paper.  We will read the story the Big Bad Pig and the children will retell the story in their own words.
  • In History the children will identify the impact rationing had on people's lives during WW2.
  • In Computing the children will use the algorithms from the last few weeks to make a 'cat and mouse' style chasing game.  Click on the computing tab for a link to the scratch website & the algorithms cards we have used in school (there are extra ones too).  The tutorials are great fun to watch at home.
  • In Science the children will learn about the properties of materials and investigate how materials can change.
  • Please remember snack money MUST be sent to school in a named envelope.
