Week 14 in Class Ra

Class: Reception Year: 2023 - 2024

Good afternoon everyone,

On Monday we performed our Nativity to Year 1 and Year 2. In the afternoon we designed and wrote invitations to our families to attend our Nativity on Tuesday.

On Tuesday we performed our Nativity play. We had so much fun and looked fantastic in our costumes. Thank you to everyone who attended! In the afternoon we had a very special treat and watched the Year 1 and 2 Christmas play.

We have also made Christmas cards for our buddies this week. We used bubble wrap to create Christmas tree prints and then added a star on top. We will deliver these to our buddies next week.

In Literacy we wrote sentences about characters from The Jolly Christmas Postman for example “I can see Red”. We practised our letter formation and finger spaces. In Phonics we looked at words ending in “s” and plurals. We have been practising our tricky words “we”, “me” and “be”. We have also been reading sentences and spoke about what a question mark means in a sentence. We played the game 'Change It' where we changed graphemes and digraphs in words to create different words so “chip” could become “ship”.

On Thursday we wrote a letter to Santa. We will be having a very special visit from Santa next week!

In P.E we practised bouncing and catching a ball. We practised using the correct amount of force when pushing down on the ball. I was very impressed with their catching skills. Well done Ra!

We have been looking at Christmas traditions this week. We discussed how we celebrate Christmas at home and we looked at what food we eat around Christmas and the importance of spending time with family and loved ones.

Our V.I.P this week has been Dylan. Dylan loves fact books about dinosaurs and sharks. Dylan is a popular member of our class. Well done Dylan!

Have a lovely weekend and we will see you next week for lots of Christmas fun!
