Week 9 in Class RA
Class: Reception Year: 2022 - 2023
This week we have learnt about Hinduism, including how and why Hindus celebrate Diwali. We read the story of Rama and Sita and acted it out, we made our own rangoli and wrote sentences to say which colours we liked the most. On Tuesday, we had a pen disco and made marks to bhangra music, then we designed our own mendhi patterns on hands. We designed and painted our own rangoli patterns for our topic books.
In Phonics we learnt v, w, x and y. We played another word/picture match game to practise our blending and sounded out the colour words to practise our spelling in Literacy. Next week we will be learning z and qu as well as our daily guided reading groups. In Literacy we wrote our own sentences describing a diva lamp using "It is..." and then choosing a colour to finish the sentence. We have started finishing our sentences with full stops.
In Maths, we learnt all about patterns. We made a class pattern using colours and also made our own patterns with cubes. We spoke about patterns that we see in everyday life.
In PE, we learnt some Bollywood dance moves!
We enjoyed looking at the green teams show and tell this week. Next week, it will be yellow group’s turn for show and tell. Please could the yellow team bring in their show and tell bags on Friday morning.
This week’s VIP has been Florence. Florence is so confident coming into class and always has a smile on her face. She tries her best in absolutely everything! Well done Florence.
Enjoy your weekend and we’ll see you on Monday.
