Week 5 in class R

Class: Reception Year: 2020 - 2021

Week 5

This week we read Supertato, which the children loved. Unfortunately, when we came into school the next morning, we found the Evil peas had taken over the school! We have spent the week designing traps to try and contain them. Hopefully next week we will catch a few of them! The children have done lots of writing this week using our high frequency words: ‘I’ and ‘am’. We have written about the Evil peas and looked at initial sounds in words to help us with our spelling.

We have had lots of maths activities out this week and the children are really enjoying the Numberblocks. This week, we have learnt about 3 and 4. We found out that 4 is a special, square number. Some of the children then went off with the blocks and found other square numbers. We also looked at how to partition 3, using the part, part, whole method.

In Phonics, we have practised s, a, t, p, i, n and have been working hard on learning to blend the sounds to read words. We did our second round of phonics assessments and have written where the children are up to in their yellow, reading diaries.

Congratulations to our second VIP: Charlotte. She always tries her best and sets an excellent example of following the Golden rules.

Have a nice weekend.
