Week 4 in Class R

Class: Reception Year: 2020 - 2021

Week 4

This week we have continued looking at the book 'We're all wonders'. We have explored different emotions and discussed how the main character feels at different points in the story and what has made him feel like that. We have talked a lot about how we feel and how other people can change how we feel. This then led onto us writing our first sentence 'I am...' We also looked at the part in the story where Auggie goes into space and we talked about where we would like to go if we could go anywhere. Lots of our continuous provision activities this week have been focused on building up fine motor skills, developing strength and dexterity in hands and fingers.

We went down to the forest and practised working together to build dens. The children had a lovely time. Please see the separate gallery 'Class R forest' for photos.

We have started our maths teaching and introduced the children to the Numberblocks. We have learnt about 1 and 2 and all things associated with these numbers. The children have enjoyed getting the multilink out and creating their own Numberblocks.

e.g. 1 - 1 penny, a circle with 1 side, 1 on a die, 1 o'clock.

We have started Phonics teaching this week and have been learning to read and write the sounds s, a, t, p. In the next few weeks we will be grouping the children for phonics teaching.

Lunches have been much more successful this week. Cheesy pasta, sausage rolls and spaghetti Bolognese were all very popular!

Congratulations to our first VIP: Harry. He's done a brilliant job of setting a fabulous example for us all!

Enjoy your weekends everyone.
