Week 35 in Class R
Class: Reception Year: 2023 - 2024
We have had a very busy week this week, just like our Little Red Train in his very busy day!
We have continued to look at trains, thinking about how they work, what they look like and what they sound like. We have compared new diesel trains to old-fashioned steam trains and thought about the differences between the two. We have created our very own up-cycled mini trains using odds and ends in a special DT lesson. We have used shapes and paints to create stamped train pictures and used masking tape to create tracks. We also conducted a science experiment in which we tested how fast a small car could travel across various surfaces/materials, thinking about the friction this would create. We made predictions, and then ran our experiment to see if we were correct. Very specially, we had a visitor come in to tell us all about his job working on the trains! We got to ask all our questions and handle some interesting items that he brought in from the train station.
We have also been practising very hard for both Sports Day, which is next Friday 28th June (weather permitting!) and our Singing Assembly, which is next Tuesday 25th June. We can't wait to show you all what we have been working on!
Next week, please continue to bring in sunhats and wear suncream to school - we're hoping for more warm weather and outdoor play!
