Week 33 in Class R
Class: Reception Year: 2023 - 2024
This week, Reception have been immersing themselves in the world of butterflies. We have enjoyed a very colourful week!
In English, we have been reading 'The Very Hungry Caterpillar.' We can name all the foods the caterpillar eats on each day of the week, and name the different stages of the life cycle of the caterpillar. We have learnt lots of interesting facts about caterpillars! We have created actions to go with the story and even made our own mini-books. There have been lots of opportunities this week to practise our writing skills in the continuous provision.
In Maths, we have been practising our subitising and getting to grips with rekenreks; we have mastered 'one more' and 'one less.'
In PE, we have been practising for Sports Day. Egg and spoon racing is very tricky and requires lots of balancing, whilst sprinting needs speed! We have really enjoyed getting to practise the racing.
In Art this week, we have been creating all things butterfly! We have finger-painted, used brushes and practised a special folding technique to give us perfectly symmetrical butterflies. What a creative week!
