Week 28 in Class R
We have had a lovely and very busy week so far. We are continuing to look at all things to do with the sea, specifically sharks. The children have created fact files, which have included drawing pictures of sharks and writing full sentences (see the photos below). We have learnt some new and exciting words: 'predator' and 'hydrodynamic' See if the children can remember what they mean. We also finished off our Jack and the Flumflum tree story maps and the chldren re-told me what had happened in the story. They were so enthusiastic, I was struggling to keep up with them! There are a few photos below, Miss Hubbard is going to finsh them off at the end of the week.
We had lots of fun re-enacting the story of St George today, ask the chldren if they can tell you the story. The children are so much more confident now acting and speakng in front of the whole class. William made an excellent George and Harrison was a ferrocious dragon.
In choosing time, we have learnt about floating and sinking, classifying animals in and around the sea and produced observational drawing of shells. In Literacy we examined the treasure in my treasure chest and thought of interesting words to describe it, such as 'sparkling' and 'glittery' and then put the words into sentences.
In Maths we have looked at all the ways we can make 6 and used our 'fast eyes' to instantly recognise amounts. In phonics we are continuing with Phase 4 and consolidating words with the Phase 3 digraphs in.
The children have worked so hard ths week, lots of amazing discussion and writing. We're looking forward to learning about some new animals and their habitats next week...
