Week 25 in Class R
Class: Reception Year: 2022 - 2023
Good afternoon everyone!
Another busy week this week in Reception. We have been spending a lot of time learning all about maps linked to our story of the week What the Ladybird Heard. The children have discussed what maps are used for and what types of maps they know. We have looked at maps of Britain, maps of school and maps of the farm. The children designed their own map of the farm from the story and written a sentence to go with it in Literacy.
In maths, we have been working on knowing our days of the week. We have discussed which days are school days and which are the weekend, and how those days differ. The children explored what they do differently on school days and weekend days, as well as what we do during the day and night. It was very interesting as some children were able to tell us that they do some things in the day and night, such as, brushing teeth, having a bath, and watching TV in their pyjamas.
This week in PE, we revisited safe landing when jumping from apparatus, and looked at how we can travel across our benches in different ways, This week, we balanced and walked along, bunny hopped over and used our upper body to pull ourselves along too.
On Friday, we enjoyed our usual show and tell. It has been great to hear about people's hobbies at home. This week, we learnt about gymnastics, ballet and golf.
Next week, we will continue to look at our story - What the Ladybird Heard in literacy. We will be focusing on some subtraction skills, knowing 1 less and 2 fewer than given numbers. We will use our ten frames and numbertracks to help us with this.
Of course, we will be talking about Easter and how we celebrate this in our homes.
We hope to see lots of you at the disco later in your party outfits.
