Week 11 in Class R
Class: Reception Year: 2022 - 2023
This week in Reception, we have had a busy week of Nativity practice with lots of song singing, loud voices and quiet feet on the stage. The children are getting to know their lines and knowing where to stand. We are very excited to show you our performances. Please see the latest newletter about information on attending the performance.
This week then children have been practising their sentence writing all about the vegetables that we have seen in our Supertato book and we have been working on retelling the order of events in the story. We have heard some great story language and have loved hearing the children impersonating The Evil Pea and Supertato!
In maths the children have continued to work on looking at numbers within numbers, specifically with regards to the numbers 4 and 5. The children have been using their super subitising 'fast' eyes to tell us how they see 4 and 5 in different arrangements and also sorting them into groups ( 4, 5 or neither).
On Friday, we looked at how fruit and vegetables grow. The children were very knowledgeable and could tell me that a seed needed soil and water and we talked about how they need sunlight too. We watched a time lapse video of a seed germinating and saw who it grew up towards the sunlight. The children then pretended to be seeds themselves growing up towards the sun.
We have really enjoyed our show and tell this week. We've seen some more monster trucks (very popular in Class R), Christmas decorations, animal wildlife books and also seen some of us dressed up as astronauts.
Show and Tell is blue group next week. We look forward to seeing the next lot of treasures.
Have a lovely weekend!
