Special Educational Needs

At Holmes Chapel Primary, we are passionate about supporting all our children achieve to their full potential.

Last year, 2016-17, 27 children started the year on the SEN register. 7 of these children were on the register as School Support (their needs are being met through quality first teaching), 15 of them as School Focus (their needs are being met though quality first teaching and individual or small group support), 5 of them with an EHCP.

During the year all our SEN children made strong progress, with one child no longer needing support and therefore was removed from the SEN register.  We were successful in getting an EHCP for one child during the autumn term. Through careful assessment and monitoring, both internally and externally, some children were added to the SEN register during the year. In addition to this, 4 children started at the school during the year who required support. This means that at the end of the summer term we had 33 children on the register - 10 at School Support, 17 at School Focus and 6 with statements/EHCPs.

During the year we applied for 3 EHCPs (Education Health Care Plan - this replaces a statement) and were successful for 2 children.

Our SEN policy and accessibility plan are within our Inclusion Policy and can be found by clicking here.

Please read our Local Offer of Provision (found at the bottom of this page) to find out more about the ways in which we meet the needs of our pupils with Special Educational Needs.

Please do not hesitate to contact us directly, if you have specific questions about your child's needs.
