Special Educational Needs

At Holmes Chapel Primary, we are passionate about supporting all our children achieve to their full potential.

Last year, 2015-16, 28 children started the year on the SEN register. 8 of these children were on the register as School Support (their needs are being met through quality first teaching), 14 of them as School Focus (their needs are being met though quality first teaching and individual or small group support), 6 of them with a statement/EHCP.

During the year all our SEN children made strong progress.  By the end of the year, 1 child made such good progress that they could be moved from School Focus to School Support. We were successful in getting an EHCP for one child during the spring term. One new child joined the school in the autumn term and was added to the register and two children left in the spring. This means that at the end of the summer term we had 28 children on the register - 10 at School Support, 13 at School Focus and 5 with statements/EHCPs.

During the year we applied for 4 EHCPs (Education Health Care Plan - this replaces a statement) and were successful for 2 children, with 1 pending.

Our SEN policy and accessibility plan are within our Inclusion Policy and can be found by clicking here.

Please read our Local Offer of Provision (found at the bottom of this page) to find out more about the ways in which we meet the needs of our pupils wth Special Educational Needs.
