Special Educational Needs and Disabilities
At Holmes Chapel Primary, we are passionate about supporting all our children to achieve their full potential.
Last year, 2020-21, 35 children started the year on the SEN register which means they receive support that is 'additional to or different from' the majority of their peers.
28 of these children were on the register at SEN Support level (with a SEN Support Plan 'SSP' in place - their needs are being met though quality first teaching and individual or small group support) and 7 of them with an EHCP (Education, Health and Care Plan - an idividualised plan created alongside Cheshire East).
After reviewing our assessment strategies, children were added to the SEN register at SEN Support Level, to ensure they receive the correct support. In addition to this, we were successful in acquiring an EHCP for 2 children during the year.
At the end of the summer term, we had 39 children on the register - 30 at SEN Support Level and 9 with EHCPs.
Children can also be placed on a First Concerns register and have a one page support profile as a step before being placed on the SEN register. At the end of July 2021, we had 21 children with a First Concerns Profile.
