Firefighter visit

Wow! What  an exciting day we had on Thursday! We had a wonderful time with the Holmes Chapel firefighters (Abi, Rich and Andy) who taught us all about the different jobs they do, from fighting fires to rescuing owls from chimneys. We also learnt about smoke alarms and how to test them in our homes. Ask your children about Test It Tuesday. The children were all very excited when they showed us the different uniforms and especially when Andy put on his mask and was breathing from his oxygen tank.

We also were really lucky to go outside and look at the fire engine where we learnt all about the hoses, ladders and other equipment in there. Did you know that fire engines now carry pet oxygen masks to help animals who might need them. Abi, Andy and Rich were really kind and let us all try on a helmet too!

Last of all, just as they were driving out of school, they turned on their lights and let us hear the siren. It was lots of fun!
